Fall-ing in love with the Langhe region : A Styled Shoot

As most of you know already, fall is my all-time favourite season. So, when Stephanie (@stephaniewisemanphoto) and I decided to collaborate on a dreamy styled shoot in Italy to showcase gorgeous locations for micro-weddings or elopements I knew I wanted to go somewhere with rich fall colours.

Now I know that I'll never find those "Canadian Fall Colours" here in Italy (no matter how far north I go), but the gorgeous scenery of the rolling hills covered in vines came pretty close.

When people dream of coming to Italy for their wedding, they usually think of the commonly known cities which have made Italy famous, but I wanted to show lesser known regions (at least to non-Italians) like this one. The Langhe region is in Piemonte and is known as Italy's northern wine country. It is a region filled with many small towns very close to each other, each specialized in their own red wine. These wines include: Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Moscato (white wine).

In all honesty, had I known this region back when M and I got engaged, I would have had our engagement photos done here (I know it's not a common tradition in Italy, but here's my blog post on why I think they're worth taking). It's the perfect mix of romantic and rustic, without all the tourists in the background.

I was obviously excited to spend the weekend there sipping wine, visiting wineries and eating their local cuisine, but I was also very excited to show Stephanie the area as she has never been. She's American but lives in Parma now and is specialized in travel and elopement photography. Her photos are gorgeous and what I love most about her work is that she manages to capture those moments between poses. When I look through her photos, I feel like I am actually connecting with the people in them, like I've been granted access to a true and honest moment captured on film. If that's not enough, she managed to make the most "non-model" aka Michelangelo feel comfortable!

If you or anyone you know is thinking of having a small elopement wedding or wants an intimate destination wedding, I suggest considering the Langhe region as your dream location. This region is a beautiful backdrop any time of the year and with Stephanie as your photographer you're sure to have special memories captured for years to come.

Let me know what's your favourite shot from the gallery!
