Hope you all had a fabulous Canada Day weekend, or just a great regular weekend for all those of you not from Canada!
One of the best parts of July, apart from the Canadian BBQs and all the beer, are the sales that every store has to offer! This year the kick off of Italian summer sales just happened to coincide with Canada Day too, meaning sales for everyone in Italy AND in Canada, great eh?!
Here's a round up of some of the deals you can grab without having to even leave your house (I love shopping online):
Zara : up to 50% off entire store
Mango (Italy) : up to 50% off entire store
Dynamite : up to 70% off sale
Gap : extra 40% off your entire purchase
Banana Republic : 40% off regular price && extra 50% off sale items
Old Navy : entire store up to 60% off && extra 20% off your entire purchase
Mixing patterns is tacky...mixing patterns is hard...have you heard that before? Well I was once someone who had her doubts about mixing patterns together in one outfit. Maybe because I wanted to believe what they all say "you cant have too much of a good thing", but since then I've realized it's just not true! What you do need to know is that mixing patterns together requires an eye for style and a good knowledge of your own body proportions. Don't be afraid to take a fashion "risk" and put together stripes and polka dots or (as we're seeing a lot this season) stripes and florals! There are no limits except the ones you make for yourself.
So, in the hopes to share some of my self taught knowledge and to show you how to take calculated fashion risks I've put together a few short steps to follow when matching patterns.
I am SO SO excited that Emilie (@dearemilieg) and I were able to join together again for another edition of our Style Across Borders series! Last October we did our first collaboration where we shared how we each styled 5 different trends for the Fall and we were so happy with the feedback we got from everyone! Personally I was especially happy to see the photos that you all shared with me of our own way to rock the trends we focused on.
Given this great first round we decided to team up again for a Spring collaboration! Now I didn't always love the Spring, and I think it has to do with the fact that Canada never really has a true Spring season... sometimes there's still snow, sometimes it's all rain all the time... it's not easy to adjust. However, in Italy Spring is lovey because (like the fall) it's that perfect transition pe...
The most important thing I've ever learned in my life from my parents is to always be humble and kind and remember just how luck you are. Sometimes the opportunities we have can be taken for granted and so I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who gave me the opportunity to participate in various Milan Fashion Week events last week - seriously I had the best time so thank you so so much!
I especially love Fashion Week in Milan because I feel like I can dress however I want - no holding back, no limits!
This fashion week I was able to visit various presentations but my favourites were Tods, Chiara Ferragni Collection and GiGi x Tommy Hilfiger ❤️
Here are some of my favourite pieces (if your budget allows it, I would highly recommended investing in these beautiful items) and special moments!! PS: Chiara, if you're reading this and want me t...
I love the satisfaction of knowing I got a great product at a great price, but luck is not part of this equation and throughout the years I've learned how to master the "art of conquering sales"!
Many of you might be laughing right now 😂 but just think about it, haven't you ever gone back to a store weeks or months after you buy something just to see your item now selling for 50% - admit it, it's the worst feeling!
I'm here to share some of my tips on how to never buy an item at a higher price than you're willing to, and most importantly how to conquer fashion sales!
Shop before : Pre-Shopping is like studying, it's a way for you to see what's available at your favourite stores before sales begin. This is important because it gives you the chance to try on products to see what size you need and what items you LOVE and which ones you LIKE!
What a week, it flew by (so many outfits so little time) but I had the best time sharing everything with you! I hope you all enjoyed the 6 fall must have items that Emilie and I styled this week - what was your favourite?
Looking back I love the fact that each day Emilie and I both used the same item in very different ways, giving you two looks to be inspired by when transitioning your wardrobe into the fall!
Here's a round up of our 6 go-to items for this fall:
Fall floral print
Fur outerwear / accessory
Canadian tuxedo aka jeans on jeans
Remember that I always link where I bought pieces from by tapping on my Instagram photo (just incase if you want to get to the store to get one for yourself ASAP) but below you'll find more details about where I got each piece as well as tips to mak...
So for those of you who have been following my Instagram feed the last few days you know just how excited I am about this announcement - no sorry I'm not engaged - but I am super excited to share that my friend Emilie and I have joined up to do a week long special focusing on what we believe are essential pieces for the fall!
While catching up (over drinks) this summer we talked about how interesting it is seeing the differences and similarities between style trends in Canada vs. Italy. For this reason we thought it would be fun to team up and show you cool new ways to use things you might already have in your closet, as well as inspire you to invest in new pieces, for the fall through each of our individual styles (both influenced in part by where we live).
Each day this week we will be sharing our #ootd focusing on a specific piece but styled...
Although I don’t live in my hometown of Windsor Ontario anymore, I always like to keep up with the news in the city and see what’s going on. I love hearing that new restaurants, galleries and coffee shops are opening up around the city – they are run by young entrepreneurs who see the potential that Windsor could be!
Recently during my time at home (I have been home for two months…the longest ever since I was 17…), I learned that an old friend and high-school classmate of mine started her own jewelry company. As many of you know, and can tell from my photos, I prefer to have less jewelry but invest in great pieces that are timeless and can be worn frequently. However the bracelets that Melaina makes are so beautiful and versatile that they can be accessories to match a more fancy event or worn daily and incorporated into your everyday staples.
In true throwback Thursday style I decided that it was finally time to share with you the beauty that is my Canadian photo shoot, done on my first day back in my hometown in Windsor, Ontario. I knew I wanted to have a fun way of celebrating my birthday, and I couldn't think of anything better than spending the day pampering myself and feeling amazing. The outcome was just as incredible as the day - the weather was on our side and I guess Rachel truly knew how to make me find my best light!
Although the shoot was done over a month ago, I felt I couldn't do the photos justice posting them while it was freezing and snowing here in Canada again...! Honestly I am shocked at this crazy weather we have had, but it is finally looking like Spring is here to stay so I thought that this would be the perfect mix of #ThrowbackThursday and my way to share so...
